There has been a lot of talk and debate about the impact of cloth diapers on our
environment; and we have listened to both sides carefully. Although many people have their opinions, we do not see any real clear-cut authority emerging to address the issues of cloth diapers and the environment. However, we do not think that the
cost to produce disposable diapers has been fully explored: and manufacturing of disposable is certainly damaging to the environment. We once received the advise to
“...live close to the ground. The closer to the ground something is, the better it is for you.”
Disposable diapering products are about as far away from what nature intended for us as you can get. Cutting down trees ( a precious resource) and gel packs against baby are completely unnatural to me. Cotton and other renewable resources are much closer to the earth! But what about all the energy used to wash diapers and treating the water used to wash them? Well, you can line dry your diapers in the summer, which is just wonderful and energy efficient! Municipalities are better at managing their water reclamation systems then they are their garbage dumps and landfills...so we still believe that cloth diapers are the better option. Pretty simple analysis but it is our opinion, not fact so take it for what it is worth!
