Do you have stinky diapers?! UGH! What a nightmare! But, there is hope! You can actually take care of stinky diapers with a few tried and true tactics. Many mothers believe in a process called
"stripping" your diapers. You need to do this on a day when you have some time. It is simple and effective. You put your load of diapers in the wash, add a cup a vinegar (optional), and run the diapers through the wash on hot, with no detergent. After the first wash, you will repeat the wash four more times, with no detergent. If you have the nice weather, you can lay your diapers out on the lawn to dry in the sun. This will help bleach out the diapers with the sun and get rid of smells and stains. If weather is bad, you can dry your diapers in the dryer or simply hang them to dry.
This is the simple way of getting bad smells out of your diapers. If you have tried to use bleach on your diapers and they smell worse, you may have residual urine mixing with the bleach. This gives off a "mustard gas" sort of smell. You may not be able to get rid of this smell, if it is too imbedded in the soaker of your diaper and the soaker is not removeable.
