First, let us say, "Never use bleach on SnugWees!" The fleece that we use in our products is of the highest quality, made in the U.S.A. It does not pill or run. It will last you through years of diapering multiple babies! Our SnugWee stash lasted through 3 children: over 7 years of continuous diapering! Just don’t bleach it. Bleach breaks down the fleece, the elastic and the interior construction.

     Using bleach on diapers is not good for the diaper and not good for baby.  Bleach on cotton destroys the fibers of the fabric.  You can also have the urine from baby mix with the bleach residue and cause a chemical reaction much like mustard gas.  This causes very bad rashes and gives your diapers a very bad smell that is extremely difficult to get rid of. 

     Bleach breaks down (almost melts, really) the composition of the fleece shells of our diapers.  We use fleece from Mills Direct (formerly Malden Mills.)  This is the best fleece we know of.  We have been using this fleece for over ten years and we have looked around for other comperable materials.  We assure you, there is no better fleece out on the maket.  I have many wet beds and other unfortunate accidents to attest to the fact.  Nothing performs as well as our fleece!

     If you have a diaper that smells really bad, you can try stripping the diaper.  You can put the diaper in your diaper load and strip the whole load.  To strip you diapers, you simply run them through on the hot cycle about 5 times.  Some moms suggest that you use about a cup of vinegar in the first load.  If weather permits you can dry your diapers (inside, facing up) on the lawn.   This will help destroy unwanted contaminants and bleach out any stains your diaper interiors might have.
